Turtle and nice vertical wall coral reef and cavern
Garden Eel and Wooden wreck at 40m depth
Menjangan Island lies off the Northwestern shore of Bali. The island is protected, currents and waves are generally non-existent. It is part of Bali Barat National Park, a protected reserve area. Menjangan is great for all levels of divers or snorkelers. Thirty minutes by boat from Mimpi crossing point (Banyu Mandi). Good numbers and varieties of coral and fish live here, turtles and sharks.
Menjangan offers vertical walls down to 30-60 metres, which then slope outwards. The reef surface is rugged with caves and grottoes, crevasses and funnel like splits break up the wall. You must orient yourself as you descend: Underneath appears as a blue void because of the incredible visibility which often reach over 40m, and sea temperatures are quite warm at 28-31°C.
The popular dive point at Menjangan Island are The Eel Garden, notable for its dazzling white sand, the Eel Garden is a pleasant dive in itself and an excellent place to do a deco stop, the Pos II where you can enter a short cavern of the left and nice coral wall and sea fans on the right, and for the more experienced, a deep dive (40m) to the Anker Wreck is a good choice, this is a wooden shipwreck (Kapal Budak) at the northwest corner of Menjangan island.
